For the third time in four weeks, Chase Elliott is favored to win a race. However, this time he’s joined by Ryan Blaney. It’s only the second time this season that there’s been co-favorites to win a race, joining the Toyota 400, Elliott and Kyle Larson.
Elliott and Blaney are given +1000 odds, or an implied 9.1% chance to win the race. Those are the worst odds any favorite has been given to win a race this season. In fact, 9 drivers are given +1400 odds or better to win. That makes this the closest odds market for any race this season.
One driver who oddsmakers are beginning to cool on is Kyle Larson. After dominating the odds market for the majority of the season, Larson is given +1300 odds to win this one. That ties him for 6th with Joey Logano and Kyle Busch.
Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “These odds are about as tight as the Cup Series is right now. So, it should make sense that the top 3 on the odds market are Elliott, Blaney, and Ross Chastain, the three who lead the Cup Series standings. The biggest exception is Denny Hamlin who continues to get love from oddsmakers, 4th on the odds market, despite struggling this season, 20th in Cup standings.”
