Stanton And Traver Capture Koni Challenge Fresh From Florida 200
- Updated: January 25, 2008
Daytona Beach, FL ? Veteran road racer Craig Stanton and Tim Traver took the lead with eight laps to go to win the Fresh from Florida 200, the first Koni Challenge race of the 2008 season. The winning pair drove the BGB Motorsports Porsche 997 to the GS class victory.
?We worked hard on our race set-up and it worked for us,? Stanton said. ?Our car was neutral at the end, which is what we wanted it to be.? Added co-driver Traver, who started the car, ?My job was to keep my nose, which I did.?
The winners covered 76 laps around the 3.56-mile road course, and they finished four seconds ahead of the runner-up team. Five caution flags slowed the race for 16 laps.
Second place went to the Hyper Sport Mustang GT driven by Scott Maxwell, Jeff Courtney and Joe Foster. Third went to the Blackforest Motorsport Mustang co-driven by Terry Borcheller and Scott Turner.
The ST class winner was the i-Moto Racing Acura TSX driven by Glen Bocchino and Nick Wittmer.
A combined 93 GT and ST entries started the combative race.
